The Way the Cookie Crumbles
12 x 12 inches / Oil on Panel / catalog # 312-17

A brilliant trick of the eye combining surrealism with trompe l’oeil, Engel skillfully suggests that a tasty photo has been taped to a weathered board. In truth, the artist has painted every last crumb, crease and indentation in this appealing rendition. The featured glass of creamy milk, the cookies and the jettison crumbs all stir the viewer’s senses with memories of this legendary snack. Milk is the Tennessee State beverage.
