"SOCIETY OF ANIMAL ARTISTS 54TH ANNUAL EXHIBITION"
http://thewildlifeexperience.org/cal/exhibits/soci

August 23, The Wildlife Experience Museum in Parker, CO, unveils the Society of Animal Artists' 54th Annual Exhibition, featuring wildlife and animal artworks by member artists in diverse media and artistic styles. Camille is absolutely thrilled and honored to be accepted into such a prestigious exhibition. The exhibit remains on display through October 22, then a portion of the works (yet to be chosen by the jurors) travel to museums through the U.S.A.

Equally as thrilling is the coverage given in the September issue of Southwest Art magazine which shows Camille's painting, "Who's A Good Girl" as one of only two paintings in the exhibition article... and to the right beside it on the next page, Camille's "Little Chickadee" painting is displayed (easily seen in the photo below due to their cheerful red backgrounds.)

Here's an excerpt from the article: "Acutely aware of the color and beauty around her, Tennessee resident Camille Engel captures songbirds and other animals - both domestic and wild - in intricate detail and emotive texture."

Be sure to pick up this beautiful magazine... and, if you find yourself in or near Denver, CO, please make a point to visit the exhibition. You'll be glad you did!

Santa Fe, NM • Giacobbe-Fritz Fine Art

"FLOCK"

Camille Engel is honored to be featured in the upcoming show and sale titled, "FLOCK" opening this Friday, May 23, 2014 and featured in the May issue of Southwest Art magazine.

FLOCK celebrates the beauty of birds. Opening on May 23 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. and running though June 8, FLOCK features 11 new oil paintings by Camille Engel and watercolors by Mary Alayne Thomas as well as one work each from the gallery's stable of artists.

Birds are an integral part of Engel's life and work. Around her Tennessee home are several birdfeeders that attract a menagerie of wildlife. "What I love about birds is their freedom to fly and that they are survivors," Engel explains. "Usually, I paint a single bird and hone in on its features. My invitation to participate in FLOCK became an opportunity to paint flocks of birds, which is something I'd wanted to do for a while but hadn't done yet." Among the new Engel paintings featured in FLOCK are several pieces that feature a lone bird and three works that portray flocks of birds. "One of the flock paintings, a triptych titled "Rush Hour", has the black silhouette of the birds and trees against a background of clouds," she says. "Instead of focusing on a single bird's attributes, I'm capturing the feeling of birds and the beauty of the clouds around them."

Camille Engel's 20" x 16" oil painting of a carousel horse and Indigo Bunting, "Catch Me if You Can" is flying in to Giacobbe-Fritz Fine Art just in time for Santa Fe's Annual "ARTfeast"- Circus & Fairs is the 2014 theme.

The amazing detail Camille put into this painting took 134.25 hours in painting time alone... not counting the time put into researching the subject, finding the references and working out the composition. "I love this painting," says Camille. I have such fond memories of Carousels and from an early age I studied the creativity that went into each 'seat'."

Now in its 17th season, ARTfeast is Santa Fe's foremost winter celebration of artful living. Five events celebrate the city's world-class chefs and restaurants, an array of vintners, prominent artists and galleries, unique homes, and new this year, an evening Fashion Feast featuring internationally renowned designer Mondo Guerra.

As a fundraiser, proceeds from ticket sales and purchases made throughout ARTfeast weekend go to ARTsmart, a 501c3 nonprofit, which ensures that Santa Fe and New Mexico youth have the opportunity to explore, experience, and engage in the visual arts, which are a critical component of every student's education.
