Every artist dreams of the collector whose commission is to “paint anything you like” — This was my commission for which I was handsomely paid… “Paint anything you like as long as it depicts stage magic.”

Of course, my mind was filled with the possibilities as if someone said to me, “Here’s the world, choose something!”  Since I am known for my bird paintings, my first thought was to paint a magician’s hands releasing a white dove.  Or, I love to play games, perhaps a magician’s hands showing a reveal from a hand of playing cards. The more I thought of it, the more the ideas flowed.

Then it hit me… I’ve always wanted to take the time to begin painting the human figure. This is the perfect commission to paint a figure and the Levitation Illusion had all the mystery and beauty my heart was trying to capture for this collector.  So here is the final result of my “Magic Commission” titled: “Beautiful Illusion” a 20 x 30-inch oil painting on canvas.  I truly enjoyed the commission and am grateful he trusted my creative dreams.

Thank you for reading.  I’d love to hear your comments and thoughts.

“FLOCK” Art Show Opens in Santa Fe This Weekend

(Coming Soon)
“FLOCK” Friday, find

June 8, oncologist
2014.

I am honored that my Santa Fe art gallery representation, Giacobbe Fritz Fine Art on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, NM, asked me to participate in a two-woman show… Camille Engel realism bird paintings hang with watercolorist, Mary Alayne Thomas in “FLOCK”.

Birds are an integral part of my life and work. Surrounding my woodland Tennessee home are several birdbaths and bird feeders that attract a menagerie of wildlife. We live near the lake, so our feeders are also visited by unique flocks during migration and we take lots of photos. With my oil paintings, I typically paint a single bird and hone in on its intricate colors, features and personality. While Thomas creates whimsical paintings. Our two styles of bird paintings compliment each other as you can see in these photos posted by the gallery.
